North Whip 2012 Overview

Searching for a little something to get you fired up on those small wave days? Well we were too and that's exactly how the North Whip was born!

The North Whip 2012 is a short and wide high performance quad-fin design capable of making even the most marginal conditions fun. Low entry rocker, deep single concave and an optimized thickness profile get this board up and going quickly and effortlessly to generate blazing speed in small surf.

Lively under your feet with quick rail to rail transition, the Whip accelerates out of tight arcs and is a blast to ride even in the smallest surf. The wide nose and tail give you plenty of surface area for carrying speed while also effectively creating the longest possible rail line to prevent sacrificing drive when the surf picks up.

The classic diamond tail design blends with modernized performance aspects to create a board that can be ridden at least 4" shorter than your normal board allowing it to fit easily into the pocket of small waves.

The new 2012 Whip is now available in 3 sizes. This modern high performance quad fin design takes advantage of the performance benefits associated with a short, wide design to truly excel in small to medium surf.

North Bamboo Construction Technology:

North Kiteboarding 2012 surfboards are made using bamboo on both, the base and the deck of the boards. Bamboo has a high strength to weight ratio, which has obvious benefits in making a durable board that will withstand hard heel impacts and pressure dents, while still keeping the overall board weight to a minimum.

Bamboo itself offers excellent dampening properties which allow Sky Solbach who's shaping NKB surfboards already in the third product generation, to create boards that feel light and lively under your feet, while not feeling overly bouncy or chattery through the chop, effectively smoothing out the ride. Bamboo is now becoming more widely used throughout the surf industry for the exact same reasons. Additionally, bamboo is of course a natural and easily renewable resource. We at North Kiteboarding feel, it just should be natural to care about your planet, especially when loving and living an outdoor sport so closely connected to nature like kitesurfing. Finally, on top of all of these benefits, the immaculate finish and bamboo wood grains, give each one of our boards a unique and distinct look. Every single one is not less than unique, already nearly a custom board.

A combination of low entry rocker and generous tail curve gives you quick acceleration and super tight arcs that carry speed through your turns. Full, boxy rails and a moderate single concave create lift and deflection ideal for quick bursts of speed and crisp turns.

The quad fins assist in keeping the board loose and free without sacrificing drive to draw out wider turns when needed. The Whip is the perfect tool to dominate your local beach break in nearly all conditions.

Even the 5'4" Whip has plenty of volume to get you up and going thanks to it's wide outline and full rails, yet is short enough to be functional in even the smallest waves.

A great introductory board to wave riding, the North Whip is easy to jibe, has a very balanced directional feel and is a terrific light wind weapon!

Strapless riding is made easy with the comfortable traction pads or throw some foot straps on and shred to your heart's content. Who knows, maybe you don't have to travel to Hawaii to find those perfect waves after all!

Feel free to have a blast in conditions that you used to overlook; Onshore mush, wind swell… the North Whip will challenge you to have the most fun.

The width of the North Whip makes it stable and easy to ride while the extremely short length helps it fit snugly in the tight pocket of small waves.

If jibing has ever been a problem, the symmetrical outline combined with the width and rocker will take care of that.

If you need a light wind weapon, then look no further! The North Whip has enough surface and volume to get you up and riding while everyone else is beached!

Strapped or strapless, the challenge of riding a surfboard is there even if the conditions are not! The North Whip will be the ultimate board for both an introduction to kitesurfing on waves as well as high performance strapless surfing. There are tons of hours of fun and challenge canned inside this board!
