Course Description
A-1
*Carry and set up the lines and kite
*Determine the wind direction and upwind and downwind (windward, leeward).
*Pilot a small kite (inflatable, stunt kite, foil…) on the wind window edge and maintain it close to the ground.
*Know how to stop the kite power in case of problem by releasing the bar. Be aware that the kite leash must be worn at all times, before kite launching and until landing.

B-1
*Be aware of the area where the kite can fall down wind to the pilot.
*Recover the kite on land.
*Position the kite on request from 9 to 3 o’clock on the wind window edge.
*Launch a kite with an assistant and choose the right angle to the wind.
*Pilot the kite in the power area without crashing it.
*Twist and untwist the lines while the kite flies.
*Recover a kite and secure it on land.
*Land a kite with the help of an assistant.

C-1
*Pilot a kite hooked to the harness.
*Pilot hooked to the harness with one hand.
*Activate the harness release system or quick release located on a leader line.

D-1
*Perform a downwind course by body dragging and using the power of the kite.

E-1
*Relaunch a kite from the water.
*Wind the lines in the water and recover the kite.
*Perform a self-rescue in deep water.
*Launch a kite alone on land.
*Identify potential wind obstacles creating lift or down draft and be able to define the wind direction. Understand that practice with onshore wind is dangerous.

Mick Di Betta
A prone paddler from the age of 15, who has developed all his own training programs. These programs have been perfected to suit paddling events, from sprint racing to distant events like Catalina and Molokai to Oahu.

Mick has used proven scientific information from Olympic kayaking programs and used his race experience over many years to fine tune his training philosophy, to win the 1997 Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Championship. He has coached over 12 other Molokai to Oahu victories, both male and female, including 10 time champion Jamie Mitchell! He has a level 3 accredited surf coach certificate with Surf Life Saving Australia, gained at The Australian Institute of Sport.

His training philosophy has been successful in varied paddling disciplines and race distances from Australian and World Life Saving sprint racing to BOP style SUP racing and long distance events. The success of the training programs and the experiences that Mick has gained through coaching and racing with elite athletes, has given him the confidence to continue doing something that brings enjoyment, not only to himself, but the athletes themselves.

With 30 something years experience developing improvements to training methods for on water training programs, Mick is excited with his innovation of the PaddlePowerTrainer for off water training. The PaddlePowerTrainer meets all the required fields in a well-rounded annual training program.

It’s scientifically and technically correct paddling motion, will develop perfect paddling technique and build muscle endurance and anaerobic power. The PaddlePowerTrainer is a necessary addition to compliment a well designed on water training program.

Set up
Step 1
Attach resistance cord closest to the top of the paddle handle to the Wall, Pole, Tree at a height of a full extended arm above the head.

Step 2
Step out a few paces from that Wall, Pole, Tree etc to the position for the attachment point for the bottom resistance cord.

Step 3
Attach the resistance cord closest to the bottom of the paddle shaft to the wall or floor mount etc.
